The CALAX or the Cavite-Laguna Expressway is an infrastructure project meant to cut travel time and boost economic growth along the Cavite-Laguna corridor, spanning Sta. Rosa City, Laguna to Kawit, Cavite. The Build-Transfer-Operate (BTO) project is a public-private partnership project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with MPCALA Holdings, Inc. The project aims to cut down the travel time of 1.5 hours to just 45 minutes and will connect Cavitex to the South Luzon Expressways (SLEX).

CALAX opened for public use last August 24, 2021, letting motorists travel from Biñan City, Laguna to Silang East via the Tibig Road in Silang, Cavite.

Impact of CALAX

CALAX will do more than just help ease traffic. The areas that it passes such as Kawit, Open Canal, Aguinaldo Highway, Silang East, Santa Rosa Tagaytay Road, Laguna Boulevard, and Laguna Technopark are potential sites where activities in tourism, logistics, and commercial real estate investments are seen to increase.
